Jesse Hoover, DOM
Clinical care for chronic digestive conditions
“Dr. Hoover’s approach and knowledge has helped me to be healthier and better in a short amount of time.”
— Kathryn H
Most people who arrive here have already tried other approaches.
Many have sought help from medications, supplements, protocols, or generalized advice. They may have a diagnosis but no real guidance. Or they’ve been told everything is normal, while their daily life continues to shrink around persistent symptoms.
Herbscript is a telehealth herbal medicine practice. I use complex pattern differentiation, individualized prescriptions of Chinese herbs, and detailed formula adjustments to move cases forward and improve challenging digestive problems.
We look carefully at what has been happening, follow what matters, and begin treatment. If your current options are ineffective, incomplete, or difficult to live with, this practice was designed for you.
How I Approach Treatment Differently
This is not naturopathy, functional medicine, or the herbal remedies most people expect. It is also not the work of most acupuncturists, who do not often provide custom herbal formulas. It is not strictly traditional practice, either.
I draw on modern medical knowledge as well as East Asian clinical medicine when understanding a case and deciding how to treat it. This includes traditions known today as Kampo in Japan and Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. These medical systems have been developed over centuries. They are further refined through the precision of new research and clinical use in hospitals across East Asia.
Modern medicine is incredibly valuable, but it is built on a particular logic about the body. East Asian medicine adds different layers of understanding, and it uses kinds of medicinals that do not exist among pharmaceutical drugs. By including this tradition, doors can open where before there were only walls.
Bridging the modern and the traditional can produce effective approaches to complex illnesses. For many people struggling with ongoing or debilitating digestive issues, it offers an excellent way forward.
A consultation is the first step in determining whether this approach is appropriate for your case. It can be scheduled here. To get a better sense of how I work, please see below.

From This Practice:
Meeting People Where They Are
Constant fullness, no appetite, problematic weight loss. Daniel had suffered for years, yet testing showed surprisingly little. Only SIBO had been diagnosed, and treating it brought only modest improvement. The symptoms that remained — and how they responded to treatment — helped reveal the rest of the problem.

Frequently Asked Questions
What countries and regions do you serve?
Through partner pharmacies, Herbscript is able to serve people in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Canada, and Australia.
What happens in the first consultation?
We will look carefully at what has been happening, follow what matters, and begin treatment. A prescription for a custom herbal formula will be created and sent to a pharmacy in your area for delivery.
How long does treatment take to work?
It can take a few visits to find the best path forward. A correct herbal prescription often improves symptoms quickly, while careful adjustment over time stabilizes a condition and improves the body’s underlying function. How long these each take varies by case.
How much does treatment cost?
The first consultation is $225 and follow up consultations are $125. The cost of a prescription formulation is a separate fee and mostly goes to the pharmacy. Please see the pricing page for more details.
Why Chinese Herbs?
Chinese Herbs have been used, vetted, cultivated, documented, and researched more than any other traditional medicinals. They are regularly prescribed in hospitals and clinics across Eastern Asia, making them an excellent choice for those who have found limits with standard pharmaceuticals or over-the-counter supplements.
How is herb quality evaluated?
We use herbs that are cGMP certified, sourced from geo-authentic growing regions, and utilized by many hospitals in Asia. They are water-based powdered extracts. Because formulas are individually made, the dosing of herbs can remain appropriate and adjustments precise, which also supports safety.
Why powdered extracts?
Water-based, powdered extracts are a modern form of herbal medicine. They are potent, allow precise dosing, and are easy and enjoyable to take.
Do you work with existing diagnoses or lab results?
Yes. Diagnoses and lab results are considered in the context of other information.
How often do visits occur?
Most appointments are two weeks apart. After early treatment goals are met, it is possible to shift to middle-term care and fewer appointments.
Can treatment work alongside medications?
Current medications are taken into account when planning treatment. Many people continue working with their physicians for monitoring or necessary prescriptions. Herbscript formulations are developed independently but with awareness of medications and other treatments.
